Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Co.
| 16630 | Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Co. | Eastern States | 1948 | $9.99 | |
A neat linen card from the SS Eastern States of the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company. This example was postmarked at Batavia, Ohio on August 28, 1948. Condition is very good, though the card exhibits a very small tear in the right edge, just above center. Still a nice clean image of the vessel. |

Fabre Line
| 13022 | Fabre Line | Providence | 1931 | $14.00 | |
Passengers on the deck of SS Providence at Palermo. The card was never postally used, but saved as a souvenir with the vessel's name and location noted in pencil on the reverse. Very nice condition. |

French Line
| 13977 | French Line | France | 1927 | $12.99 | |
Another unused, real photo card from the France. This card pictures the "Salon Mixte" in First Class. Try counting the silver match holders which appear scattered about the room - if we could find just one…..! |
| 13976 | French Line | France | 1927 | $12.99 | |
The Grand Dining Salon in First Class on board the France. This acquired with several other interior photo cards from the ship - all of which seem a bit undersized, but exhibit no signs of trimming. Near-mint condition and unused. |
| 13975 | French Line | France | 1927 | $12.99 | |
A real photo of the "Moorish Room" in First Class on board the France. This card is a bit undersized, but close examination reveals no evidence that the card has been trimmed. A nice image. Unused. |
| 14938 | French Line | France | 1968 | $9.99 | |
The SS France, as we like to remember her - in her French Line colors, and without her "upper floors" (we still can't bring ourselves to call these "decks"). This card was issued by the Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotel of Fort Lauderdale, and indeed the hotel is prominently featured in the foreground. Though a lovely structure in its own right, one would expect that most viewing this image would much rather be on board the ship! |
| 14921 | French Line | Ile de France | 1956 | $7.99 | |
A real photo card from the Ile de France, posted at sea on June 18. 1956. This card does show some damage as a result of its journey. There is some creasing and chipping to the lower corners, and a small stain at top. In spite of this, the card is of interest due to the date - just over one month prior to her fateful encounter with the foundering Italian Line flagship, Andrea Doria. The grateful passengers on board the stricken liner would have a similar view (though in the dark, early morning hours) as Captain Beaudéan eased his vessel onto the tragic scene. |
| 10349 | French Line | Normandie | 1935 | $35.99 | |
A great line-issued card for Normandie, starboard ¾ view at sea. This unused card is in excellent condition with very good corners, and illustrates the ship in her early configuration with streamlined bridge wings. Identical image to 3086, though her tonnage is listed as 82,799 instead of 83,423. |
| 10350 | French Line | Normandie | 1935 | $49.99 | |
An unusual real photo card picturing Normandie, apparently anchored at Quarantine just prior to her maiden arrival. The "Blue Ribband" flies from her main mast, and a Moran tug is at her side, along with the New York Central Mail Boat. Though the photo has been cropped, her bow peak and stern have thankfully been saved, and extend into the adjacent borders. Unused and very nice! |
| 11931 | French Line | Normandie | 1935 | $32.00 | |
A magnificent nighttime view of Normandie at Le Havre. This is a port broadside image of the vessel berthed at La Gare Maritime with her lights blazing and reflecting on the water. The dock workers must have been busy, as the timed exposure necessary to record the image reveals movement of the cargo cranes opposite the ship's bow. Sepia toned with ruffled edges. French-issued by "Cap". Tiny bit of corner wear, unused, continental size. A great card! |
| 11946 | French Line | Normandie | 1936 | $44.99 | |
A very collectible Normandie card featuring an inset portrait of Commodore Pugnet. The ship's image is a somewhat exaggerated artist's rendering. Unused, from a Manhattan publisher. Just a touch of soil on reverse. A nice example of this desirable card. |
| 15957 | French Line | Normandie | 1936 | $29.99 | |
An excellent, photographic image of Normandie arriving at New York. The card is unused. The major alterations to her boat deck, aft, are clearly visible, dating the image as 1936 or later. The ship appears nearly forgotten, as not a single other craft is visible in the image - quite a contrast to her maiden arrival cards, illustrating her surrounded by spouting fire boats, tugs, ferries, and other vessels. Very nice corners on this very clean card. |
| 10353 | French Line | Normandie | 1937 | $35.99 | |
A very nice and clean example of this Normandie card, bearing a "New York au Havre" cancel. A very slight diagonal impression upper right from the retainer which held this card in a scrap book. This is an enlargement of the same image which appears on 0178, although this card has a mat finish, and is not a real photo. |

Georgian Bay Line
| 13110 | Georgian Bay Line | South American | 1926 | $11.99 | |
On consignment: The Great White Liner "South American" of the Duluth and Georgian Bay Transit Company. Postmarked at Mackinac Island on 9 August, 1926. This is a line-issued card with the logo on the reverse. Light corner and edge wear, with some creasing apparent at lower left. Colors are great! |
Glasgow & South Western Railway
| 14928 | Glasgow & South Western Railway | Glen Sannox | 1905 | $16.99 | |
This is a truly wonderful, sepia toned photo card of the Glasgow & South Western Railway paddle steamer Glen Sannox, docked at the pier at Lamlash on Arran. The Holy Isle appears in the distance, and Bowling Green, looking very much as it does today, is clearly visible in the foreground. The card is unused, and came to us contained in its original parchment envelope, which we have preserved. There is a nick to the corner at upper right; however, due to the image and its historical significance, this does little to detract from this wonderful card! |
Goodrich Steamship Lines
| 16621 | Goodrich Steamship Lines | City of St. Joseph | 1932 | $9.99 | |
A very nice card from the City of St. Joseph of the Goodrich Transit Company. This card was postmarked at Saint Joseph on September 1, 1932. Very nice condition, with a faint corner crease at lower left, and minor evidence of the cancel on the face. |
Grace Line
| 16622 | Grace Line | Santa Rosa/Santa Paula | 1969 | $9.99 | |
This card features a popular artist's rendering of one of the Grace Line sisters docked in a Caribbean port. The card bears a 1969 Curacao cancel, but the exact date is indecipherable. Excellent condition. |
Great Northern Pacific Steamship Co.
| 10365 | Great Northern Pacific S.S. Co. | Great Northern | 1915 | $34.99 | |
A very rare and wonderful image of the Great Northern as she arrived at Flavel, Oregon for the first time. We were unable to find a reference source for the exact date, though certainly someone out there can enlighten us! Very light corner wear, but overall an excellent, unused example from this famous West Coast vessel. |
Greek Line
| 10373 | Greek Line | Olympia | 1960 | $5.99 | |
A nice rendering of Olympia, port bow view at sea. Canceled Naples on 4/1/60, the writer is delighted with the ship, and the weather! Minimal corner wear, very good condition. |
| 10375 | Greek Line | Olympia & Queen Anna Maria | 1965 | $6.99 | |
The Greek Line was fond of illustrating their vessels at sea together. This rendering places the two ships on parallel courses in opposite directions on a bright blue sea. Unused and in excellent condition. |
