N.Y.K. Line
| 8451 | N.Y.K. | (unknown) | 1930 | $125.00 | |
This beautiful item, which some have dubbed a toothbrush holder, is marked: "Compliments N.Y.K." on the front of the square base. Fan-shaped, there are three holes of equal size along the recessed top. Fine Japanese porcelain, hand decorated, with a portrait of Mount Fuji on one side, and an oriental landscape on the reverse - exquisite and rare! |

| 13435 | N.Y.K. | (unknown) | 1930 | $59.99 | |
Unquestionably a popular and treasured souvenir, likely because of its quality and beauty, this souvenir vase from Fukagawa is a lovely item. This example is the simplest as far as decoration is concerned - no flowering branches or other details have been applied to this piece, allowing Fujiyama's portrait to be the dominant image. The N.Y.K. logo appears on the reverse. Mint condition. |

| 8803 | N.Y.K. | (unknown) | 1932 | $124.99 | |
|
A beautiful Fukagawa plate, hand decorated with a feather design rim in light blue, dark blue and gold, surrounding a portrait of Mount Fuji. The reverse bears the stamp: "With Compliments" placed above the crest of the N.Y.K. Line. A truly lovely and rare piece. |

North German Lloyd
| 9217 | North German Lloyd | Berlin | 1955 | $175.00 | |
This is an uncommon knife in that it is quite a bit larger than those most often seen. The silver inlay portrait of the ship appears on pearlized celluloid. Solingen blades absolutely pristine and razor sharp. (I now have a scar to prove it!). A very nice example from Berlin. |

| 2872 | North German Lloyd | Bremen | 1897 | $80.00 | |
Souvenir Gala Night ribbon embroidered with Norddeutscher Lloyd, the line's flag, and D. Bremen, all on a black, 1½" wide ribbon just over 3' long. The previous owner found this in the bottom of one of her Great Grandmother's steamer trunks! Wonderful condition from 100 years ago! |
|||||
| 9703 | North German Lloyd | Bremen | 1959 | $32.00 | |
A nice souvenir stein from Bremen. Glazed grey stoneware with cobalt blue detail. This example bears several marks, both incised and stamped, including "OCC" & "Made in West Germany". The piece is also incised "0.5L" near the top of the handle. Much more commonly found from Europa, this is a great item in excellent condition. |
|||||

| 12697 | North German Lloyd | Bremen | 1968 | $45.00 | |
A great souvenir stein, likely from Oktoberfest on board Bremen. We assume this to be an earlier version, as the later, and much more common steins appear lidless. This example commemorates the line's West Indies and South American cruises. Condition is excellent, showing only some very tiny specks on the chromed lid, quite possibly the result of exposure to salt-laden air. |

| 14563 | North German Lloyd | Bremen | 1968 | $42.99 | |
A great, grey stoneware beer mug, likely from "Oktoberfest," a popular event held on board T/S Bremen & M/S Europa. These appear more commonly with the name of only one of the vessels. This particular example names both. Perfect condition. |

| 8275 | North German Lloyd | Europa | 1930 | $475.00 | |
This incredible doll has survived in wonderful condition! Fully 26" tall, souvenir dolls of this size are very rarely seen. "D. Europa" written on his hat band. A small split in the seam of his left heel. Other than some insignificant soiling, he is fantastic! We have photographed this sailor boy in the company of a typical 11" Holland-America Lines doll, so that you can truly appreciate this "life size" souvenir! |

| 8548 | North German Lloyd | Europa | 1930 | $150.00 | |
This wonderful pearlized pocket knife bears a beautiful color portrait of the ship on one side. There is some minor corrosion on the blades, which certainly could be removed. The ship's portrait is entirely intact. Quite a nice item. |

| 12667 | North German Lloyd | Europa | 1930 | $175.00 | |
A truly wonderful souvenir item from Europa. This is a delicate porcelain demi cup and saucer. The cup bears a hand-colored portrait of the vessel. We have had the privilege to offer a similar piece from Bremen in the past, however this is the first from Europa. Condition is excellent, with minor wear to the gilt rim on the saucer. Rare and exquisite! |

| 12723 | North German Lloyd | Europa | 1966 | $30.00 | |
A very nice souvenir mini-plate featuring an excellent portrait of the Europa at sea. The piece was manufactured for NGL by Rosenthal. Extremely minor signs of wear to the gilt rim, otherwise very fine. |

| 9659 | North German Lloyd | General von Steuben | 1931 | $125.00 | |
A beautiful souvenir pocket knife with a color portrait transfer of the ship. Some surface rust on the blades, otherwise excellent condition. A nice memento from the former München of NGL. |

| 9288 | North German Lloyd | George Washington | 1910 | $85.00 | |
A beautifully preserved silk handkerchief from George Washington. This is obviously an early item, as later examples do not posses the fine, open-work border. There has been some very light staining, apparently caused by the dye from the red thread running. This does little to detract from the value and beauty of this delicate memento. |

| 12427 | North German Lloyd | Kronprinz Wilhelm | 1901 | $200.00 | |
Another incredible piece, the age of which has now passed the century mark. An exquisite enameled souvenir spoon from NDL's Kronprinz Wilhelm. Though the spoon itself is not as elaborate than some examples we have seen, the incredible enamel work more than compensates. The detail applied to the ship's portrait is unbelievable. The spoon apparently had a gold wash initially, but polishing has removed much of this. The enamel, however, has remained in near-pristine condition. A very rare and exceptional example. |

| 11201 | North German Lloyd | (unknown) | 1900 | $375.00 | |
Truly the most impressive example of this piece we have seen. A silver plated snuff box with an elaborate repoussé Art Nouveau floral design surrounding a detailed appliqué of a ship's wheel encompassing the NDL logo. The plating shows wear in a small area, but is excellent overall. There are two small dents or depressions immediately adjacent to one another on one side of the bottom half, but these detract quite minimally. Magnificent! |

| 12411 | North German Lloyd | (unknown) | 1926 | $150.00 | |
There are occasions when we are absolutely amazed at the care and detail applied to the simplest of souvenir items - this piece is a prime example. This is a souvenir note pad, presented with the compliments of the line, to a Mrs. Ella H. Richards. We know this as the original gift card which accompanied this item is intact - but that is merely the beginning! We'll begin with the original box with hinged lid embossed with the North German Lloyd flag and name, illuminated in metallic gold. Once opened, one first sees the NGL logo on the underside of the lid, along with "Uberreicht vom Norddeutschen (sic) Lloyd Bremen" printed in elaborate script. The house flag appears, again in gold, on the cover of the pad, which appears to be embossed black leather. Upon opening this we find beautifully marbleized endpapers. Even more astounding is the entire inner edge of the cover which is decorated with over 100 tiny crossed anchors and keys, once more in gold, matching the gilt edges of the pages. Prior to reaching the blank pages of the pad one finds a portrait of a twin-funneled vessel, (Columbus?), and on the last pages, calendars for 1926, 1927, and 1928. Of course the original pencil is still in its holder on the side of the pad, and the fragile tissue sleeve in which the pad was originally wrapped, printed with the manufacturer's logo, was neatly removed and saved as well. Lest we forget to mention it, the pencil has a gilt cap, and is embossed "Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen" - truly incredible! |

| 9478 | North German Lloyd | (unknown) | 1928 | $22.00 | |
This is a simple document folder or wallet in simulated leather with a green cloth lining. The NGL flag appears at upper left in gold, and the line name, also in gold, appears inside. The items contained within this piece when acquired were dated 1928, so we assume the piece should be similarly dated. Used, with some edge wear, but still very good. |

Norwegian America Line
| 8967 | Norwegian America Line | Oslofjord | 1938 | $200.00 | |
A very rare item from the unfortunate Oslofjord - a beautiful vessel that was to survive a mere two years. This pocket knife is in superior condition. Very nicely done, and very unusual. |

| 15829 | Norwegian America Line | Sagafjord | 1977 | $24.99 | |
|
A souvenir plate from Sagafjord's World Cruise of 1977-1978. Two sets of dates appear, likely indicating both a U.S. and a Europe departure and arrival port. Manufactured by Rosenthal, and featuring the world map with all ports of call indicated. It is interesting to note a misprint in the U.S. sailing date, which states "1978" instead of "1977." A nice memento. |

| 15830 | Norwegian America Line | Sagafjord | 1980 | $24.99 | |
|
Sagafjord's World Cruise of 1980, commemorated on this souvenir plate from Rosenthal. The ship's U.S. sailing and arrival dates appear at top (she sailed from Port Everglades) and her European port dates are noted below. According to Arnold Kludas, the vessel was transferred from the Norwegian American Line to Norwegian American Cruises in May of 1980. It is interesting to note, therefore, that the "NAC" house flag appears on this plate, replacing the "NAL" flag of earlier examples. Perfect condition. |

| 12396 | Norwegian America Line | Sagafjord | 1981 | $12.00 | |
A souvenir pin dish from an East Coast cruise aboard Sagafjord, sailing under the Norwegian American Cruises flag, May-June, 1981. We are frequently struck by the fact that, when coming across what once were considered "common" cruise souvenirs, that many of these are now over 20 years old! Doubtless, as the years continue to pass, someone will attempt to obtain a "complete" collection of these wonderful Rosenthal pieces. This example near-mint. |

| 14131 | Norwegian America Line | (unknown) | 1964 | $48.99 | |
|
A truly gorgeous example of decorative enameled ware from the Norwegian America Line. More commonly seen in blue, this tray is a magnificent olive green. It seems a variety of items with this type of decoration was produced, and we have so far seen bowls and oblong dresser trays in addition to these shallow, circular trays. A small crest with the line name appears in gold at the center. Absolutely pristine! |

| 12071 | Norwegian America Line | Vistafjord | 1976 | $14.00 | |
A Caribbean Cruise aboard Vistafjord, round-trip from Port Everglades, Florida. Interesting in that the exact dates do not appear, but perhaps there were several successive cruises following the same itinerary, and this was more cost effective! Excellent condition, showing a small nick on the base, but as this has been glazed over it obviously occurred during the manufacturing process. |

The souvenir spoon tradition lives on in this example from NCL's Norway. Though one does not see silver plating, a gold wash, or a hand-painted enamel portrait, at least the vessel's name and the line's logo appears on an enameled crest at the top of the handle. A nice, traditional memento! |

Oranje Line
| 8341 | Oranje Line | Prinses Irene | 1959 | $40.00 | |
A truly wonderful letter opener from a ship and line we don't find much from. Beautifully silver plated, there is some indication that the previous owner may have used the piece as a screw driver, or some other purpose for which it was not intended! This has left the tip slightly bent. Still excellent. |

Orient Line
| 12674 | Orient Line | Ormuz | 1920 | $300.00 | |
A gorgeous and rare item from Ormuz. This beautiful piece of sterling silver is fully hallmarked with the Birmingham city mark, standard mark, and date letter indicating manufacture in 1920. The maker's mark is also extant. It is a three-letter mark which appears to be "E.S.B", though the last letter is not entirely clear. Regardless, we have not yet been able to determine the maker. All four marks appear on the bottom half, while the lid bears only the standard mark and date letter. The logo is beautifully rendered and enameled, with the line's motto in Latin clearly legible. This is an extraordinarily rare and lovely souvenir. |

| 11294 | P & O | Sea Princess | 1980 | $22.00 | |
An attractive, gold-trimmed souvenir plate from the Sea Princess - early in her P & O career, as the "Princess" logo has not yet appeared on her funnel. A faint backstamp, "4-80" appears on the reverse, and is quite likely the date of manufacture. There is a near-vertical line of crazing in the glaze on either side of the ship's image, but this is only in the glaze, and does not penetrate the pottery itself. A neat image of the former Kungsholm, with the remains of her forward funnel clearly visible. |
