Atlantic Transport Line
| 8520 | Atlantic Transport Line | Minneapolis | 1905 | $12.00 | |
A wonderful portrait of Minneapolis on this abstract of log from her voyage #116 westbound, August 28. Unfortunately this piece has been trimmed, apparently to fit in a postcard book, which seems to have effectively removed any reference to the year. Still a nice piece, and unusual. |

Cunard

This is a magnificent nautical inclinometer of exceptionally fine quality, manufactured by Steger Jr. Nautiche Werk of Kiel, Germany, and apparently purchased from Gene Darcy's "Stores of the Queens" as an item salvaged from the Queen Mary following her arrival at Long Beach. This brass and steel instrument is mounted in it's original, beautifully finished, dovetailed case with glass panel. The pendulum is counterbalanced, and features a lever that secures it in place until released by the observer. The maker's name appears, engraved on the item, just above the scale and immediately behind the indicator arrow. A small manufacturer's plate has been attached below, as well. All screws and exposed mounts used to attach the item to a bulkhead are brass, as one would expect. This is not a souvenir or a piece manufactured for display, but an actual instrument that would have been in use on board to check the ship's inclination - more than likely, it would have been found at or near the bridge, or in an officer's stateroom. We must state that there are no markings visible anywhere on this item to confirm that it was removed from the Queen Mary; however, it was acquired from a gentleman who possessed other items from Mr. Darcy's "Stores of the Queens," and taking into account the item's age, quality, and condition, we are quite confident that it is indeed original and authentic as described. A truly rare and wonderful item! |

An early souvenir log from America, this dated 5/12/48. Folded card format, with the Beaufort Wind Scale described on the reverse. The cover shows printing from another card upon which this one must have rested while the ink was still wet. |

Abstract of log from SS United States - from a collection of 28 abstracts from both East & Westbound crossings - voyages 153 through 166. These crossings took place during the mid to latter half of 1959. We were incredibly fortunate to be able to acquire this complete collection. Several have been sold, but many are still available, and all are listed on the item page |
