13136 Unknown Maker 4" $95.00

half doll thumbnail Here we have a very colorful 1920's figure holding an arm-full of purple flowers. This figure is pictured on page 374 of the Encyclopedia, and of interest will be the bow on the young lady's shoulder. Apparently this detail was originally intended to be larger than that which appears on this figure. It seems probable that the larger bow did not often survive the un-molding process. This is quite an attractive figure, with modeled necklace and bracelet on her upper arm. She is incised: "1523 Germany". SOLD

13144 Unknown Maker 4" $85.00

half doll thumbnail A popular figure, and this an excellent example. This lovely young lady wears a iridescent pink and white shawl over her pale yellow bodice. Her matching iridescent yellow hat partially conceals the blue flowers at her left ear. Incised: "Made In Germany" across her lower back, with the number "14503" below. There is a mark inside her base which almost looks like a number or letter, but we know from experience that this is merely the result of the decorator putting a point on his or her brush!

13138 Unknown Maker 3" $55.00

half doll thumbnail This is a common model, but one can clearly see why she was popular. Simply done, she could be dressed by her owner in a variety of styles. She appears, (with several "sisters") on page 248 in the Encyclopedia. Incised "Germany" across her back. A nice expression on this example.

13143 Unknown Maker 4" $85.00

half doll thumbnail We were not able to spot this young lady in the Encyclopedia*, (if you can, let us know!) but she is undoubtedly one of the popular series of figures commonly seen and decorated with iridescent glazes. This Flapper wears an orange cloche with a very wide, white brim. Her bodice is an iridescent lavender-blue, with pale yellow at her shoulders. A very nice expression on her face. What was likely a five digit number has been partially obliterated, leaving "?450?". She is incised: "Made In Germany" across the back of the base. There is a shallow flake adjacent to a sew hole on her base, but this may have been a manufacturing flaw. It is on the reverse, and does not have the sharp edges one would expect were it relatively recent damage.
*Thanks to a friend who found this figure on page 95 of F. Marion's

This tall and lovely lady holds a bouquet of multicolored flowers, and she has placed some smaller blooms in her hair as well. Noted in the Encyclopedia on page 254 for her unusual number: A188½, she also has the number "38" hand-painted inside her base. This particular example is pristine, and her incredibly delicate wrist and elongated hand have survived undamaged. She has an extremely attractive expression - her eyes have been finely rendered and her pursed lips are absolutely perfect! SOLD

An exceptional figure in the Flapper category - this incredible lady appears on page 351 in the Encyclopedia, however she is not nearly as impressive in black and white as she is in full color! Dressed in green with a magnificently styled turban in orange, green, and blue; she wears as well a pair of dramatic, disc earrings in bright yellow and orange. She is quite a tall figure, and the positioning of her elongated arms and neck make for a simple yet stunning pose. Her mold was numbered 5486, and she has a red stamp, "Germany," across the front of her base. A couple of tiny, red glaze specks on her right arm, she is in pristine condition. SOLD

13174 Unknown Maker 2½" figure, 3¼" overall $120.00

half figure bottle stopper thumbnail An exceptionally delightful half figure! This charming little girl wears an Alsatian headdress, and holds in her arms a quacking duck! This figure tops a cork bottle stopper, and is cleverly designed so that the duck becomes the spout! She is numbered "8598", but no other markings appear. The figure has been beautifully and delicately decorated as one can see when she is examined closely - very pale grey has been applied to the duck's wing, light blue on the girl's collar, and red fringe on her yellow shawl. There is a small manufacturing flaw in the form of a rough projection beneath the duck's foot. We initially thought that the foot might have originally extended from the body, and had broken off. But then we noticed that the foot is clearly sculpted against the body, so it is more than likely an extra bit of clay which adhered to the figure during firing. We considered as well that it might have been the fowl's second foot, but find it highly unlikely that the designer would have placed something so delicately sculpted adjacent to the bottle rim. A pity we are unable to credit the artist or maker of this wonderful item! Please see a "sister figure" in the "Dresser Figures" category. SOLD
