| Pattern description:
The pattern illustrated is one of a series of six sailing ship designs
which appear on this china. The images (overglaze decoration) are
identical to those of the previous pattern illustrated. However, with the
exception of the ship's image, this plate features no other embossed
designs or details, but does feature a more "modern" squared
shape. Beneath each ship is the century during which
that particular vessel sailed - 1000, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, and 1800. Each of the six ships
features the three-crown Swedish American Line logo on a sail, and one of
the six is flying the house flag on her jackstaff as well. Pattern notes: One assumes that the price for acquiring a set of these plates had gone up a bit in the 1960's; however a 1958 passenger list notes the price for a set of six (the previously illustrated pattern) as $9.75!
