Royal Rotterdam Lloyd

royal rotterdam lloyd pattern detail Mfg.: unknown (Royal Sphinx*)
Pattern name: unknown
Item illustrated: a.d. saucer
Item date: unknown
Circa: 1950's
Steamship company backstamp: no

Pattern description: This pattern consists a pair of fine brown lines spaced approximately 3/16" apart, and the entwined initials "RL" below a crown. This logo measures ½" in height. The body color is actually a bit creamier with more of a yellowish tint than it appears to have in the image.
Pattern notes: We have seen this saucer offered with a cup which featured not a matching logo, but a belted or gartered logo with "Rotterdamsche Lloyd" on the belt, and the house flag within. It is not known if this pairing was as intended originally, or simply illustrative of a progression of china patterns on items which happened to match physically.

* This item was found without it's cup, but the tag indicated manufacture by Royal Sphinx - we assume the cup was backstamped, but unfortunately broken or lost at the time we located the saucer.
