furness item detail
Pattern description: This pattern, which appears on white china, consists of colorful under-glaze decals with predominant colors of blue, pink, green and gold. A large, crested bird with wings spread gives the pattern its name, however the bird (likely due to its size) sometimes does not appear on smaller items. These small items are decorated with sections of flowering branches.
Pattern notes: Plates appear with the bird and a great number of branches filling nearly the entire well, with smaller branch sections on the rim. The pattern was registered in 1932, and it is thought to have been designed specifically for the Furness liner, Queen of Bermuda. Note that this pattern can be found on stock china. This china has a lined rim and, of course, no steamship company backstamp.
