prr purple laurel item detail
Pattern description: This pattern features a decorative band in brown, blue, and yellow, consisting of a wreath of overlapping leaves (laurel) with berries, broken intermittently by a small geometric design with a blue cross at center. This band is bordered on either side by a fine, brown line, and one additional line is placed outermost (note that this is faint in the image due to glare).
Pattern notes: This pattern is known to have been produced by Buffalo, Shenango, Syracuse, Sterling, and Scammell (Lamberton and Trenton). The pattern is a stock pattern, and was produced in a number of color combinations. Though the design on the item illustrated appears quite sharp, the cobalt content of the blue pigment used in the decoration often ran and blurred during firing - this is not generally considered to be a flaw.
