Body Color:
Ivory
Decoration: Blue, orange, green
Pattern Description: Neoclassical design featuring scrolled acanthus
and Greek figures (discus thrower, man chasing ostrich) placed on
alternating rectangular and circular panels. 1920's-1940's.
Notes: This unique pattern was originally created for the Gallatin
Gateway Inn (Yellowstone Park) at Gallatin Gateway, Montana; hence
the name "Galatea." This hotel was owned and operated by
the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Rail Road, making
this a sought-after decoration by collectors of railroad dining car
china. Use by the railroad, however, can only be confirmed to a
certainty by the presence of the "C.M.& ST.P.& P.R.R."
