Body Color:
White
Decoration: Blue
Pattern Description: A "Blue Onion" theme transfer print
decoration, consisting of a continuous vine of small, heart-shaped
leaves or onion forms, alternating with tiny floral designs composed of dots. A
wavy line is placed outermost, and the cobalt content of the pigment
gives the pattern a light "flow blue" effect.
1920's-1950's.
Notes: Syracuse was granted a copyright for this decoration, and
early examples appear with the pattern name "The Denmark"
in the backstamp. Denmark is documented as having been used at Fred
Harvey's Springfield, Missouri Harvey House. This is another pattern
that we often see offered as "railroad china," as the
design did appear (ca. 1930's) in "Frisco" dining cars.
However, as a custom backstamp was not applied, railroad use cannot
be determined to a certainty without direct provenance, and prices
should reflect this. |
