Body Color:
Ivory
Decoration: Multicolor
Pattern Description: Underglaze decal decoration consisting of a
band with Art Deco detail in red and brown, broken by the placement
of two complimentary floral sprays. The larger spray features two
blooms - one blue and one yellow-orange - and the second features a
pale orange flower. The flora is rendered in a somewhat exaggerated
or "cartoon-ish" manner. Two small blue flowers are placed
adjacent to the band on either side of the larger floral spray.
Circa 1930's-1950's.
Notes: This is a delightful decoration, also to be found on white
bodied ware. This version sometimes appears with the "Old
Ivory" backstamp. Early examples are marked additionally with a
small vignette, which includes the pattern name, and an image of the
ruins of an old abbey. |
