Body Color:
White
Decoration: Black
Pattern Description: Solid black "Vitritone" on white
body, fluted shape. 1937-1950's.
Notes: The name "Doric," in actuality, refers to the
faceted or fluted shape of these items, which were designed to
accompany and compliment both Econo-Rim and Morwel. With the
exception of undecorated "Adobe," Syracuse employed a
technique they called "Vitritone" to decorate these items.
This involved dipping or spraying the items with pigmented slip in
order to achieve the solid exterior color. "Doric" items
were Syracuse's only entry into the "refrigerator ware"
line of bright, solid-colored items being produced, most notably by
Hall China, at the time. The line included a coffee pot, teapot,
covered sugar (two sizes), cream jug, creamer, and an ashtray. |
