Pattern Description: Blue overglaze decoration applied to recesses
of Econo-Rim "egg & dart" embossed rim. Tan body.
1930's-1950's.
Notes: This is a striking example of a type of decoration Syracuse
named "Artint" - a process which entailed the laying down
of a solid
band of color on the embossed rim, and then wiping away the excess,
leaving pigment only in the recesses of the design. Syracuse also
produced a transfer print version of this pattern, which simulated
the Artint effect on non-embossed shapes. (See "Deco-Rim"
patterns.) |
