Pattern Description: A wide, red/maroon, hand-painted (sponged) band
adjacent to a narrow, black band innermost on white body.
1940's-1950's.
Notes: A 1941 Mayer catalogue describes this as a "...most unusual
and striking pattern" - an apt description for this eye-catching
design. Mayer's "Red Fade-in" offers the reverse treatment
(black line outermost, red fades towards center) and the two patterns can be easily mixed. |
