This
is the wonderful, colorful, and exclusive pattern designed for the
world famous Pump Room, located in Chicago's Ambassador Hotel East.
One must research the History of Bath, and the biography of actress
Sarah Siddons to grasp the symbolism. The decoration is applied as
an underglaze decal. Larger items feature the actress's name on a
banner beneath her figure, but that is absent on the cream pitcher
illustrated. The ware is white body, Econo-Rim shape.

The
list of celebrated names who might have had this very china set
before them at Booth One in the Ambassador Hotel East's famed Pump
Room delights the mind! Sinatra, Garland, Bogart, Bacall - if only
these dishes could talk! Beautifully decorated china, featuring
transfer print plumes (a nod to Mrs. Siddons' legendary attire) as
well as four, small images: the Sarah Siddons logo, the letter
"P" in an oval, a vertical pump, and a small table with
food and drink. One must look to the history of Bath to find the
significance of the original "Pump Room;" suffice to say
it was a place to see and be seen!
