A magnificent
service plate from Long Island's fabulous Montauk Manor. This plate
is a rarity, and appears illustrated in a written history of the
Scammell family. The image, which virtually fills the well, is
incredible; a woman dressed in 1920's garb, standing with a Montauk
Indian on a bluff overlooking the point and lighthouse, while the
sun rises from the horizon. The outline of the point is accurately
rendered, and the colors are vivid. Condition is exceptional,
showing almost no signs of use or wear. This item would truly be a
stand-out in any collection of hotel service plates.
