Collectible Topmarked China
Hotels, Motels, and Inns - Mayflower, Washington, D.C.
mayflower hotel china
Rare china from Washington, D.C.'s Mayflower, produced with Buffalo's wonderful laminating technique, called "Lamelle," which allowed for different body colors to be combined. The cup illustrated features a white body with blue handle, while the blue saucer has a white well. The cream pitcher illustrated was produced by Shenango to compliment this ware, and has a blue glaze poured into its interior in order to achieve a similar effect. One might note the initials "MF" on the ship's tops'l - the obvious reason for this would seem to be the plethora of hotels to which "MH" could apply, calling for something unique.
Mfg.: Buffalo, Shenango
