A
neat demitasse cup featuring a geometric band in blue, rust, and
black, accented by a single, fine, rust colored line. The band is
broken once to allow for the company monogram. Were the piece not
backstamped, we would see the monogram simply as "MAO,"
though, apparently, the center of the "M" is configured to
represent the "Y" in the design. Comprehensive (and tiny!)
text on the bottom reads as follows: "Scammell's
"Lamberton China" Made Expressly For Mayo Furniture Co. by
Regnier & Shoup Merc. Co., St. Joseph, Mo." The decorative
band appears rather crude in design, having almost a hand-drawn
look. One also must wonder if this cup was intended for the
company's staff, or did they, perhaps, operate a tea room on the
premises?
Mfg.: Scammell
